Did you send Santa a Thank You Note?

Santa2_2 My youngest daughter Shannon sent Santa a thank you note today for her Christmas presents.  I thought that was pretty thoughtful.  She's right -- Santa probably doesn't get many cards after he delivers the presents.  Oh sure he gets loads of mail before hand with interesting demands full of vivid claims from good children ... not unlike those HR Managers receive from candidates... 

Everyone's focused on getting the interview.  They write.  They call.  They send emails - chocolates - flowers and more all to get the interview. But then what?  The interview is just one step in the process.  Want to get to step #2?  Then send a thank you note.  Why?  It's courteous and it'll make you stand out: 99% of people won't bother.  God forbid if their waiting to see if you really do have great follow through....

So next time, don't just tell them you're different and better than the others - show them.  Send a Thank You Note.  Let the other guy get coal.
