If people can sell tickets for a chance to win a free TV why can’t you do the same for a “package” of your services? Your time and expertise can easily be packaged and sold to the right group. Depending on your expertise you can go door-to-door in an industrial park, office tower etc. offering chances to win. People will happily buy tickets for the opportunity to have brochures written or a network installed or computers cleaned up or new packaging designed or a whole host of other things. The trick is to design a package of services which a potential employer might need on a permanent or semi-permanent basis and approach businesses which you know are large enough to hire you full time.
Your offering must be first class.
Your delivery must be stellar.
If the winner doesn’t hire you ask for referrals.
Keep a list of those who bought tickets along with their phone numbers, to follow-up later and ask for leads
Let all the participants know who won the contest, and offer the winner as a reference or testimonial for your good work.
Ask if they would like a copy of your resume.
Add these people to your newsletter list.
You need to sell enough tickets to cover your out-of-pocket costs.
