If people can sell tickets for a chance to win a free TV why can’t you do the same for a “package” of your services? Your time and expertise can easily be packaged and sold to the right group. Depending on your expertise you can go door-to-door in an industrial park, office tower etc. offering chances to win. People will happily buy tickets for the
opportunity to have brochures written or a network
installed or computers cleaned up or new packaging designed or a
whole host of other things. The trick is
to design a package of services which a potential employer might need on a
permanent or semi-permanent basis and approach businesses which you know are
large enough to hire you full time.
♦ Your offering must be first class.
♦ Your delivery must be stellar.
♦ If the winner doesn’t hire you ask for
referrals.
♦ Keep a list of those who bought tickets along
with their phone numbers, to follow-up later and ask for leads
♦ Let all the participants know who won the
contest,
and offer the winner as a reference or testimonial for your
good work.
♦ Ask if they would like a copy of your resume.
♦ Add these people to your newsletter list.
♦ You need to sell enough tickets to cover your
out-of-pocket costs.
